
Our family of talented instructors is sadden at the loss of one of our own. Jamie Perniciaro, the popular, outstanding Louisiana millwright instructor, passed away on October 31 at the age of 61, from complications of COVID-19.
Jamie leaves an indelible mark on the union millwright program, from the International Training Center (ITC) to Local 729. His work spanned teaching the newest of apprentices to veteran journeymen. He also exceled at teaching his peers from around the country, via Train-the-Trainer courses at the ITC.
Jamie earned two Associate Degrees from Delgado College: Auto Mechanics and Machinist. He joined the United Brotherhood of Carpenters’ Millwrights Local Union 1931 on July 26, 1989. Nine years later he became a part-time instructor for the local Carpenter & Millwright Training program, and became a full-time instructor just two years later, in 2000. In 2005, the International Training program asked Jamie to become an instructor and member of the national curriculum development committee.
Jamie was also active in Local Union activities. He served as President for both Millwright Local 1931 and then Local 729. He also served as a Trustee and Delegate for the Southern States Millwright Regional Council.
Visitation for Jamie - James Gustave Perniciaro - will be held at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 8-11 am. A funeral mass will follow in the funeral home Chapel. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
